The Future Homes Standard will not be implemented until 2025 which has meant that new homes are continuing to be built that are heated by fossil-fuel systems and will need retrofitting in the future. This session will examine the main barriers to delivering net zero new homes at scale now, and the solutions to overcome:

•    As well as operational carbon, embodied and whole life carbon emissions must be addressed. How do we accurately measure and remove embodied carbon from new builds?
•    Future Homes Standard 2025: are the current and emerging regulatory changes doing enough to ensure the delivery of future proofed, low carbon homes?
•    MMC has the potential to make the most efficient use of available materials and resources. What role does offsite construction have to play in the delivery of zero carbon homes?
