Retrofitting insulation to the UK’s housing stock helps to reduce carbon emissions and household bills. However, the impact on customer’s satisfaction, comfort and wellbeing is much harder to measure and therefore less likely to be used to select and plan work.
A range of case study material will examine how winter time discomfort and cold weather illness can be reduced for residents through the careful selection of retrofit measures. A range of quantified and qualified evidence for various environmental, energy-saving and comfort improvements achieved as a result of applying underfloor insulation will be discussed. The results represent a range of housing types and property sizes in different locations across the UK, which give specific examples to illustrate the impact on individuals living in these homes. The talk will provide evidence for how pragmatic measures, like underfloor insulation, can help social landlords deliver retrofits with positive impacts for their customers.
